[EARLY PHOTOGRAPY]. Ninth plate ambrotype featuring a beautiful African American young lady.


Ninth plate seated portrait of an African American young woman wearing a dress with a paisley pattern and her hair pulled back in braids with ribbon. (Darkening to edges, few surface spots.) Housed in a Union case with figural design (significant chip to front cover).

A previous listing for this image included a scan of a slip of paper with ink inscription reading, "Mary B[?] at 16 yrs" (not included here).
